How to use Ayoa’s Class Notes template

Ready to make your lectures more productive and stress free? Ayoa’s Class Notes template is here to help you. Discover how to use it below.

1

To access the template, sign up to Ayoa, or log in. Once you’ve signed up, navigate to the homepage before selecting “Create New” and choosing a new mind map. Finally, find and open Class Notes from the available templates.

2

The starting point when looking at the Class Notes mind map is to point out the module and topic you will be looking at, and identifying the related key objectives. Highlighting the key objectives early on will not only help you understand the lecture better, but it will also help further down the line when revising for exams as it will help you pinpoint what you need to recap.

3

For the majority of your class time, you will be focused on the areas of the mind map named ‘Sections 1, 2 and 3’. Each section will cover the major topics in the lecture, whether that be a question posed to the class or a set topic heading. Use this time to identify which topics need to be focused on in more detail. Very often we can feel overwhelmed at the start of a lecture when receiving a lot of information, but breaking this information down step by step will make it feel more manageable.

4

The mind map then guides you to make some broad notes on each topic area, to give yourself an outline on any discussion points that could be taken further. Choose a focused subheading, and start writing the information your lecturer is providing. The additional child branches then encourage you to think deeper into the topic, and add extra detail that can be explored. Here you can also add emojis, attachments or web links to make certain parts stand out and to help your future self when it comes to revision.

5

Once you have finished taking your lecture notes and all the necessary information is on one page, it is time to start focusing on how these sections link. Using Ayoa’s connection arrows, create visual links between each topic and allow your mind to flow through each section, rather than seeing them as separate entities. This tool will become particularly useful when it comes to writing essays, as it provides you with a clear structure which will produce developed arguments.

6

Remember that using the Class Notes template regularly ensures your note taking process stays consistent, and helps form a healthy routine when it comes to lectures. So make sure to carry on using the Class Notes template for the best results!
