Morning productivity – how to get things done

Mornings. To some, even the thought of the word makes them feel sleepy and lethargic. But to others, the first few hours of the day is key to planning and preparing for the coming day ahead.

If you struggle to find the good in waking before 6:30 A.M., we’ve noted down our 4 top tips for getting the most out of your morning to ensure you make a kick-start to the day. See how DropTask can help you to gather everything you’ll need into one place below.

Don’t get buried by emails – If you’re like most people when waking-up in the morning, it almost feels like a ritual to check news from the night before, endlessly scroll through social media, and to view emails that have been sent during the night. Instead of getting caught up in your inbox from the moment you wake, take control of the information that’s in front of you. Do this by sending important emails into DropTask that require more than just a response. By Emailing Tasks In you’ll be able to transport your email into your chosen project. With your email nestled in with your current workflow, it’ll wait there until you’re ready to get it into action (preferably after your morning coffee).

Check your schedule – Does the phrase ‘there aren’t enough hours in the day‘ ring true to you? Well there are; as long as you plan out your schedule in advance. Setting a schedule gives you the peace of mind that everything is remaining on track, and informs you of any deadlines that’re creeping up. To ensure you know exactly what’s ahead of you for the remainder of the week, use the Calendar to view your important dates by assigning Start or Due Dates to tasks to establish what needs your focus. With your schedule carefully mapped out, you’ll be able to pinpoint where your time needs to be spent, before the busy workday begins.

Remember to pace yourself – It’s easy to fall into the trap of wanting to complete all tasks that’re in front of you. Instead, focus on your priorities for the day by using Filters to narrow down on project information. Take the Tag filter for instance, once applied, all tasks with the searched tag will appear on the Canvas. Better yet, filter by your chosen Urgency level to ensure you’re focused on the tasks that require your utmost attention. Use your morning to take your time on crucial tasks and to get them done right – the first time around.

Gain your daily dose of motivation – Let’s face it, when we’ve had a tough week at work, finding motivation to keep on moving forward is difficult. And more often than not, we’ll either find ourselves on top of our game or wanting to curl up under the sheets. To ensure you’re always at the top of your game, set aside 10-15 mins in the morning to look back on what you’ve achieved (trust me, you’ll gain an instant boost of motivation). You can do this by dipping into you Completed Tasks from across all projects. This will show you all of the goals that you’ve reached and the obstacles you’ve ploughed through to get there, and give you that ounce of encouragement to continue moving forward.
