Every year, Ayoa joins forces with other businesses to raise money for the wonderful cause of Children in Need – and this year was certainly no different! With Pudsey Bear back in town once again, Team Ayoa were happy to put on their fundraising hats for a week of fun and charitable activities, including a bake sale, raffle and ping-pong tournament.

Ayoa’s Head Office calls Tec Marina (located in the beautiful Penarth Marina) its home, alongside a number of other organizations. Tec Marina residents are part of a great community, and we’re thrilled to say that after a week of fundraising activities, Ayoa and fellow Tec Marina residents managed to raise an impressive £807 for Children in Need.

The fun started on Monday 11th, with the week kicking off with Tec Marina’s famous ping-pong tournament. Many a game were played, and the final round saw Tom and Calum (both from The Indigo Group) go head to head. It looks like the building now has a new ping-pong champion for 2019, with Calum winning the top spot!

The fun didn’t end there – the morning of Children in Need kicked off with a delicious bake sale. The Ayoa team and other Tec Marina residents baked up a storm and everyone was left spoiled for choice with options including vegan banana bread, lemon drizzle, and even a dulce de leche cheesecake. This year, Ayoa’s Charlotte was crowned star baker with her yummy carrot cake.

Next up was a new addition to our Children in Need fundraising activities – “rum bowl”. Residents rolled £1 coins towards a bottle of Barcardi to see who could get the closest and claim the bottle as their prize. There were more than a few giggles during this wacky take on bowling, and in the end, it was a close call – in fact, we had to bring out a tape measure to confirm the winner!

Over the last week, Ayoa staff and our neighbours have also been placing bets for the name of the giant teddy bear kindly donated by Ayoa’s own Jon. It was revealed the bear’s name is the lovely Nala, and winning resident Jodie from The Indigo Group was very happy to take her home with her.

To finish the fun and round-off the day of fundraising, we held the popular Tec Marina raffle. The table of prizes had been filling up over the last few weeks with kind donations from the residents of the building, and up for grabs were many great prizes including a signed Wales rugby ball, a remote-controlled car, a delicious food and drinks hamper, and numerous bottles including gin, wine and champagne.

Everyone in the building had a great day and we’re extremely happy with the total we managed to raise for a cause we feel so passionately about. Tec Marina and Ayoa would like to thank all the companies for donating to this wonderful cause and getting involved through the bake sale, raffle, ping-pong tournament and more.
