Lisa-Ann is the President of Illinois-based project management consultancy company IreeTec. With over 20 years of experience in her field, Lisa-Ann also teaches a Project Management programme for business professionals at Northwestern University. Read on to find out how Lisa-Ann uses DropTask [Ayoa] to demonstrate getting projects off on the right foot:

How Lisa-Ann Barnes uses DropTask

DropTask [Ayoa] is an integral part of my lessons – it offers a clear, visual display of how my students can start to create a work breakdown structure. When first starting a project, we look at the scope, identify the deliverables and work out a basis for the schedule using DropTask [Ayoa].

The simple interface and intuitive design make DropTask [Ayoa] very easy to use; this is great for me as I don’t need to spend more than five minutes giving instruction to the students before they can get started – from a teaching perspective that is very valuable.

The visual nature of Canvas View really enthuses my students – particularly those in marketing or creative jobs – I think it speaks to the visual way their minds work. One of the immediate reactions I get is “this is great!” – though I do find that the analytical thinkers prefer a more Kanban approach, like that offered in Workflow View.

I had one student who worked as a researcher managing a small team – she loved how Canvas View enabled her to see the bigger picture; and after the course, she went away and got her own DropTask [Ayoa] subscription to help display the project to her sponsors and executive stakeholders.

I think the functionality which allows you to attach documents to tasks is great, it’s a really big deal. If I want to give my students a template, or a list of feedback – I can just attach it in the bubble.

The beauty of DropTask [Ayoa] lies in its simplicity, it’s easy to use and a great tool for visualizing the work of smaller teams and projects.
