Singapore National Day Parade is on 9th August.
Today is Singapore’s most significant national event of the year, which celebrates the occasion of the country’s independence from Malaysia in 1965.
The Prime Minister of Singapore will make an official address at the National Day Rally, and a firework display will brighten the events at The Float@Marina Bay.
The theme for this year is ‘Many stories… one Singapore’ to represent the individual and collective journey of Singaporeans and the unity of the country’s people.
An enormous amount of preparation and planning goes into the event, as ThinkBuzan Master Trainer, Jennifer Goddard, discovered during her recent creative thinking workshop with delegates from the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM).
Delegates were asked to brainstorm what they would need to consider if they were to organise the song, theme, logo and entertainment for the event. As part of the activity, delegates considered logistics, transport, entertainment, funding, the itinerary for the day, and contingency planning. The brainstorming session emphasised the magnitude of the event.
The hand drawn Mind Maps were combined and transferred to a group map in iMindMap to share the conclusions.
