When developing iMindMap 7, we kept our ears to the ground and discovered that many of our users seek greater flexibility with central ideas for their Mind Maps. With this in mind, we have incorporated your suggestions and created additional ways for you to import, choose and even design your own central ideas in iMindMap 7.
After all, when you create a new Mind Map, you want it to be congruent and themed from the offset. The new capabilities in iMindMap 7 will allow you to do this… starting with your map’s central idea.
In iMindMap 7, there are 4 ways to create a central idea for your Mind Map:
This is the obvious selection when starting a new Mind Map and many iMindMap 6 and below users will be very familiar with this menu. As a treat, there are several new 3D central images in version 7 for you to choose from.
You can easily select an image or photo directly from your computer to use as your central idea. All you need to do is click ‘browse’ on the central idea menu or Properties Panel and locate the image in your files. This gives a personal touch to your map.
An exciting new feature in version 7 is the ability to use any image from the image library as your central idea. You can do this at the start menu of iMindMap or if you wish to do multi-maps, right click on the image in the library and select ‘insert as central idea’. To search for extra images, you just need to search for more images in the top tool bar on the Properties Panel. With 1000’s images to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
If you haven’t tried the new Sketch tool in version 7, it’s time to give it a go! You can now edit existing central ideas and add extra details such as colours, arrows and more. But, if you still feel this is still too restrictive, you can create entirely new central ideas. Start by drawing your image on the canvas and when you’re finished with your creation, just drag and drop your sketched image over your existing central idea to replace it. It’s as easy as that.
